We are here for you after the passing of a loved one

One of the basic functions of our faith is to give meaning to life. It is of utmost importance that persons are inspired to achieve the fullest possibilities of life. The ceremonies and services of the church serve to facilitate this purpose.

Baptism recognizes the sacred partnership with God that exists in the creation of a new person. God’s gracious love for us is given freely. Christ died for all persons. The act of Confirmation recognizes the capacity for self-dedication on the part of the individual who verifies God’s prevenient grace in their lives, what their parents did at their baptism, and that we have accepted for ourselves this free gift of salvation. For those who marry, a wedding recognizes the importance of the new human relationship in the creating of a home. Each of these worship services give dignity and meaning to life by acts of recognition and worship.

The church offers its traditions and its trained personnel to give status to the events in the lives of its members, and in so doing, it enhances the meaning of life itself. Likewise, when we come to the end of a life, proper recognition of the life of our loved one is appropriate and therapeutic for those who remain.

It is the desire of Methodist Temple and its staff to make every funeral as comforting and meaningful as possible, and to extend every possible courtesy to the family and friends. Therefore, serious study and careful judgment have gone in to the preparation of the church’s funeral services and policies. They have been reviewed and approved by the church and are the official policies of Methodist Temple United Methodist Church.

It is preferable that the minister be contacted first when a death has occurred. It is our desire to offer pastoral comfort and care during the time immediately following the passing of a loved one. Following contact with the pastor, it is also important for you to contact your chosen funeral director. Allow your funeral director and your pastor to assist you wherever you may desire or need assistance.

It is the desire of Methodist Temple and its staff to make every funeral as comforting and meaningful as possible, and to extend every possible courtesy to the family and friends.
